I. Trust and Respect
There must be trust and confidence among team members that everyone's intentions are good and pure. That there are no reasons to protect or be careful around the team.
This is key because everyone needs to feel that they can express their views and differences openly without worrying about being made fun of or retaliation.
II. Productive Conflict and Open Communication
Being able to have a passionate and sometimes emotional debate without worry of being punished. A good team realizes that it is healthy to have disagreements and respectful debates as part of open communication in a team. Some results of a productive meeting are a more lively meeting which provides more feedback, and problems are solved faster when people are willing to stand up for what they believe.
III. Committment
A team must have each members buy in. This means that the members need to put the team first and commit to helping each other out. This unites the team in a common objectives. It provides clarity to directions. It makes it easier to resolve conflicts in a timely manner.
IV. Accountability
The team is willing to call each other on their mistakes. If they believe it will hurt the team as a whole. This will ensure that everyone puts their best foot forward and establishes respect among team members.
This means that the team puts the team before its egos, or individual goals.
There is no "I" in team.
